What's Happening in 2007 With Roads & Bridges?

The 2007 Road Program will include Merri-Oaks Road, Hickory Lane, Hills & Dales Road, Rolling Hills Drive, Longmeadow Drive, and Longmeadow Court.  Bids will be due in May, with work expected to begin in June and be completed by August.  It is not expected that any of these roads will be closed during construction, but delays should be expected in these areas. Please observe traffic signage in all construction zones.

The Cook County Highway Department has informed us that they will be resurfacing Bateman Road this summer, from Penny Road to Lake Cook Road.  This project is currently in the bidding phase, and more information will be provided as it is available.

The 2006 Road Program included extensive repairs to the Cuba Road bridge deck (west of Buckley, where Flint Creek crosses Cuba Road).  While only minor distresses were visible at the asphalt surface, the pictures below demonstrate the extent of damage to the concrete slabs that made up the underlying bridge deck.  The concrete slabs were able to be sufficiently reinforced to maintain the structural integrity of the bridge without resorting to a more costly reconstruction project. A photograph of the completed work shows the bridge.

ComEd Information

1-800-334-7661 Dial (1-800 EDISON 1) for all calls except Police or Fire emergencies in which case dial 9-1-1. When calling ComEd you will be speaking to a Customer Service Representative at one of their Call Centers. The Service Representative will enter your request or problem into an automated dispatch system which will create a Customer Ticket. This ticket is printed to a remote receiving department where a response is created. Please note the system is driven by addresses not location. The street address allows the dispatch system attach a variety of information to the Customer Ticket that will be needed by the responding department of ComEd. If a street address cannot be given, inform the Service Representative of the best possible location of the problem in the Village.

To learn more about ComEd and its services in the Chicago Metropolitan area one can visit its web site at www.exeloncorp.com.

Communication Committeee Has a Web Spot dotInfo

Under the Village Links there is now a tab called Community News which takes one directly to the Web pages mananged by the Communication Committeee (http://www.vbhcomm.info) as Chaired by Nikki Panos. It is a good starting place to find a high quality of communication and information between the elected and elector. But most of all it is intended to foster community awarness and involvement.

Democracy means decision by those concerned.

Library Book Drop at Village Hall

Barrington Hills residents may take advantage of a new service at the Barrington Hills Village Hall. A library book drop has been installed inside the village hall for residents to return library materials. The Barrington Area Library will retrieve the library materials on a regular basis, and the materials will be checked in effective the date they were placed in the book drop.
